2014 - It's a wrap

Yeah, I know......this blog is not very active. At all. I only have myself to blame as I really don't have much to say unless it's about books. If it is about books, then sometimes you just can't shut me up!

But alas, this year did have it's ups and downs.

A big highlight for me was the birth of my grandson. You just can't get any bigger than that! It is a totally amazing experience being a grandmother and I know it's going to be an exciting ride living life through a child's eyes again.

Another big highlight was that my daughter graduated college (YAY Ashley!). The last semester was a challenge for her (being pregnant and all) but she did it and I am so proud of her!

I'm not going to waste my time and yours on the 'downs' of this year because quite frankly, no one wants to hear the bad (unless it's about a celebrity). But these 'downs' did make me a stronger person, and for that I am grateful.

So what does 2015 have in store for me?
 Who the heck knows!

What I do know is that I will continue reading, blogging about various stuff  (mainly books) and spoiling my grandson.  I know that I will read some amazing books written by amazing authors and I will try to do my part in spreading the word about their words.  I will try to be more patient about things that are out of my control. And most important of all, I will try to be a better ME.  Because if I don't have a firm grasp of who I am, then what's the point of it all?

If you made it to this point, thank you for reading.  And if you made it to this point, I want to wish you and yours the very Happiest New Year possible!

Random Conversation....on Muffins

Conversation between my 69 year-old father and my younger sister
that made me giggle

Father:  Did you hear what she called me?
              She said I was a Stud-Muffin!

Sister:  Yeah, you’re a muffin all right……a Bran-Muffin!

Oh, Baby!

On October 10, 2014 at 7:40 p.m. my grandson was born!  I am so proud of my daughter and her fiancĂ© and wish them the very best on their new journey as parents.

It's funny, because at 40 something, I don't feel old enough to be a grandparent.  One thing I do feel though is so much love for this little bundle of joy.  He is perfect in every way and I can't wait to spoil him and watch him grow up and do great things!

So welcome to the world baby William and always remember that
“You is kind. You is smart. You is important.”
and most of all,

You is LOVED!

A big day for my family and my daughter

Today was my daughter's graduation from college.  It's been a rough road for not only her but for us, the parents. We have had many ups and downs during this journey and at times there were doubts if she would even make it this far in her education....but she knew what she wanted and did it!  Words can't even describe how happy and proud I am of my 'little girl'....and yes, she will always be my little girl. So, to my daughter Ashley, I congratulate you on your AWESOME accomplishment and I know that you will continue to grow and take the world by storm with your winning smile, your amazing personality and your strong determination.  I love you very much and I am glad to have you as my daughter!

Well, hello little lizard!

So yesterday, the hubby and I were taking a walk around the neighborhood.  I glanced down, and there was a lizard half-way in the ground digging it's little heart out.  We have no idea why it was digging, but we thought it would be fun to mess with it.

As a side note, I was trying to be funny and use an accent, you know like the Crocodile Hunter but I would be the Lizard Hunter....total FAIL!

Sunday Mail Delivery....Really??

So, last Friday I ordered a book from Amazon.  Being a Prime customer, I automatically get free 2 day shipping (which by the way is totally awesome!)  My confirmation e-mail stated that it would be delivered on Sunday.  This must be a mistake, I think to myself....they must have meant Monday.  Sunday rolls around, and what to do you know??? My doorbell rings and there is Mr. Postman delivering my book.  What is even more shocking is that it was EASTER SUNDAY.  Come on United States Post Office officials......give the poor employee off for Easter (and Sundays).  I realize that he was probably making oodles of overtime/holiday pay, but this just does not seem fair to me.  I think most customers don't mind waiting one extra day for a package.

On that note, does anyone have an opinion on Sunday mail delivery and/or Holiday mail delivery?  I would love to hear your thoughts.

So much anger!

So this was posted on our refrigerator at work this morning.  There is so much anger radiating from this single piece of paper. I really do have pity for the poor soul that allegedly took said lunch. #lunchrage

Need to quickly separate an egg white from an egg yolk without the mess?  Well now you can with a simple water bottle quickly and effortlessly!

Hell has a new name and it is Haribo Sugar Free Gummy Bears

It all began so innocently.  The need for something sweet but without all the sugar.  When I found them on Amazon, I was thinking SCORE!!  Something to curve my sweet tooth but won't rot my teeth. Plus, my anti-sugar husband might enjoy the frivolous purchase as well.

Then it began......

These little guys although very tasty, once swallowed became little hellish ninjas with swords that started to attack my digestive system with an internal battle I can only describe as some sort of world war. There may have been grenades involved as well.  The sounds emitted from my stomach were quite disturbing, a loud, ominous gurgling sound. And then the cramping began....oh my gosh.....the gut wrenching cramping...the pain so bad you just want to bend over and cry...or scream.  Really, it was quite horrific.  It was like my body was possessed by demons from the depths of hell. The trips to the bathroom were numerous, I think I might have broke some type of world record.

I would only recommend buying these treats if you have a co-worker or ex-spouse/partner you want to seek revenge on.  Or perhaps the boss everyone hates.  Consuming these would be the perfect cleanse for an upcoming colonoscopy....no kidding.  At least it would taste better than the crap they make you drink. I might just send a few packages to every member of Congress to show my deepest gratitude for the awesome job they are doing.

But seriously, if you are considering purchasing these, please PROCEED WITH CAUTION! And be sure to stay near a restroom....you're going to need it!
